MY SUMMER WORK SCHEDULE TO GET ISH DONE + STILL HAVE FUN

HOW DO YOU DO IT ALL?

I’m often asked, how do you do it all? God, a plan, and prayer is my answer!

In addition to that, I also have actionable steps and processes to help me make life easier because I do wear many crowns. I’m a wife, mother, business owner, founder of an organization, content creator, employee and the list goes on.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed, I do recommend signing up for the REFOCUS Challenge. In this 4 week challenge, you will receive an email each week to help you gain clarity and be intentional about your priorities. I find myself needing to REFOCUS around July before school starts and life is busy all over again. It empowers me to say “no” or “not right now” so that I can better manage my time so that I can focus on what matters most in my life.

WAKE UP EARLY

I’m a firm believer in waking up earlier to get ish done. I usually tackle the hardest thing or the task that would make me feel most proud that I completed before anyone else is up in my house. Now, I know waking up early isn’t for everyone. I do recommend working during your peak energy hours. BUT...I’m telling you there is something so empowering to wake up early and complete that one task before anyone or anything else needs your attention. Instead of having that one task hanging over your head throughout the day you are then able to pour into your spouse, children, clients, family, friends, and yourself. 

CREATE THEME DAYS

In the REFOCUS Challenge, we discuss theme days, scheduling your time, and creating boundaries. I’ve learned over the 11 years of being a mom and 7 years of being a wife that scheduling theme days is what works. What does that look like? For example, Saturdays are dedicated to home life, which is cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, meal planning, and prepping. The goal is to wake up early around 5AM/7AM to get started and completed by NOON/2PM. This will then allow us to have the rest of the day for some family fun or to simply relax.

Here is a weekly glance of my theme days that empowers me to be intentional with my time and allows me to get ish done.

7AM - 8AM - GET READY FOR WORK

8AM - 5PM - WORK

5PM - 8PM - FAMILY TIME / FAMILY WORKOUT

9PM - BEDTIME

TUESDAY - THURSDAY

5AM - 7AM - WORK FOR STARLA KAY MATHIS (BLOG WRITING)

7AM - 8AM - GET READY FOR WORK

8AM - NOON - WORK

NOON - 5PM - ASSIST OVER MY GRANDMOTHER’S HOUSE

5PM - 6PM - RELAX

6PM - 8PM - MASTERCLASS (TUESDAY)

7:30PM - 9:30PM - CREATE. CONNECT. COLLAB. PLANNING (THURSDAY)

9:30PM - BEDTIME

SATURDAY

5AM/7AM - NOON - CLEANING + LAUNDRY *LAST SATURDAY OF MONTH: MEETING 10AM - NOON*

NOON - 2PM - GROCERY SHOPPING, MEAL PLANNING + MEAL PREPPING

2PM - 9PM - FREE TIME/FAMILY TIME/ME TIME

9PM - BEDTIME

SCHEDULE ME TIME

It’s very important to schedule me time and time to simply relax to recharge. When school starts the kids’ bedtime is 8PM. I will often use that time to connect with Reg or watch one on my shows. We have taught our kids the importance of “me” time so that they understand when we need a break and when they need a break from each other or us. Before I pull the “Mommy Needs A Break Card”, I like to fill up their love tanks first and spend time with them doing whatever they enjoy.

GIVE YOURSELF GRACE

Please be mindful here and have grace with yourself. Some days you will not wake up on time or be motivated to complete anything. Go with the flow and do what is best for your mental state and ask yourself why are you struggling. Usually, I end up struggling when I consume too much media first thing in the morning or didn’t get a good night of rest. My goal is to do my best and not to have two days in a row of not getting ish done. I hope this was helpful and I would love to know what your schedule is like to balance all of what you do.
