BEFORE & AFTER: FRONT YARD MAKEOVER
Whew. When they say sweat equity, that is exactly what this project was for us. Before we get into the final updates of the front yard be sure to check out the first post - YARD UPDATE SO FAR - for details and links.
LANDSCAPING
This was a labor of love! We spent so much time in the yard, going back and forth to Home Depot for more pavers and rubber mulch. Spending time cleaning old rocks throughout the dirt to re-purpose them. Visiting the local nursery to find the perfect plants for our landscaping. The kids learned how to plant plants and were a big help!
UPDATING THE PAINT
We never noticed or I guess I never noticed that the garage was painted white, however, the gutters, soffits, and window trim was painted beige. We decided we wanted everything (front door, garage door, gutters, soffits, window trims, and deck doors) painted white to add that modern like contrast. We had the deck painted as well and Reg and I ran into a little color battle. We ended up going with Reg’s first choice and then had it repainted (my choice) and went for a darker color. We loved it all and the local painting company we found did a great job!
NEW LIGHTING
I was eyeing new lighting fixtures for a while and finally found a pair of white outdoor lights that would be perfect for the front door and deck! I wanted lighting with a modern feel to it and these are perfect! Love them!
FRONT PORCH
I’ve always wanted a front porch! I’m so happy my dreams of sitting on my front porch bench watching the kids play and romantic sunset with Reg are answered. We reached out to a local company here in Indy and he was able to lay a new foundation of concrete down in the span of two days!
BEFORE & AFTER
Wow! Those bushes...we had before made us make a mental note to never buy a home with bushes again! I love how our front yard looks and can’t wait to add some lighting to the landscaping to make it pop at night!
I’m happy to report that Reg and I survived our second home project!
